Running watch Garmin Fenix 7

When looking for a professional and well-equipped running watch, you need to think really carefully before buying. One of the leaders of such watches is Garmin. Less than a year ago the brand released the Garmin Fenix 7 sports watch, and many people rave about its features. However, is it really worth the hype?

In this article, I’ll show you whether this sports watch is worth the price, what features it has and what are the differences between its predecessor, the Garmin Fenix 6. Keep reading. You’ll learn all the essentials!

Design of Garmin Fenix 7

Looking at the official photos of the sports watch, one can immediately tell that it is rugged and prepared for any conditions. The bezel around the display is made of polymer, which is reinforced with fiberglass. The silicone strap ensures comfort while wearing it. In addition, you won’t feel the material rubbing off on your skin. Comfort above all.

The display is protected by Power Glass. Thanks to it, the watch will be protected from damage. What’s more, the glass has a solar charging function.

Garmin Fenix 7 – what are the types and sizes?

Before you buy your dream sports watch, you first need to get acquainted with certain parameters that the manufacturer offers. Now we will focus on the sizes and types.

The smartwatch from Garmin is available in 3 sizes. In this case, it is no different from its previous version.

  • Fenix 7S – diameter 42 mm,
  • Fenix 7 – diameter 47 mm
  • Fenix 7X – diameter 51 mm

When you decide on the size, it’s also time to choose the right types. Let’s start with the standard version. In its case, the screen is covered with Corning® Gorilla® Glass DX and is surrounded by a stainless steel circle. The Sapphire Solar edition smartwatches have sapphire glass and a titanium envelope, while those in the Solar version have a screen protected by Power Glass™ and steel.

Garmin Fenix 7 – new features and how does it differ from the previous model?

As it has always been, with a new model also come new features, but also old features that have been improved. In this part of the article, I’ll walk you through some of the differences so you can see why it’s worth replacing your old watch with a new one, or investing in the latest version if you don’t already have a smartwatch.

Touch screen

Finally, you can navigate the main panel and all other functions not only with buttons but also with a touch screen. This feature certainly makes it easier to use and allows you to move from one function to another faster. This makes it much easier to use, for example, the map, which you can easily swipe with your finger.

Interestingly, you can turn off the touchscreen and use only the buttons. Use it as you like – one option does not exclude the other.

GPS – to determine your location even more precisely

If you’re a runner, you’re sure to want the GPS on your device to show your exact location. It’s important to have an accurate running route and the number of miles run. That’s why the manufacturer has made an effort and made the GPS on the watch more precise.

The Garmin Fenix 7 uses additional and more accurate satellite systems. What’s more, it also allows for a multi-band GPS connection. Therefore, if you care about accurate measurements, surely this device will meet your expectations 100%.

LED backlight – or flashlight in a watch

I’m sure you’ve been in a situation where you needed light but didn’t have a flashlight or your phone with you. If you own a Garmin Fenix 7, this will no longer be a problem. This sports watch has a built-in LED that will illuminate the place and can act as a flashlight.

With such a gadget you will feel safer. You will be able to illuminate the surrounding environment.

It is not just an ordinary LED. It can blink ( it has several modes), not only in white but also in red! A very cool and functional gadget.

Wi-fi – internet access at every turn

Nowadays, access to the Internet is a must. That’s why the manufacturer has made an effort to make it easier to access the Internet and, above all, to run apps on the sports watch. Now without using a laptop, you can install the necessary apps. This is certainly a great convenience. Many people are very busy and may not even have time to do things like turn on the computer and download apps.

Many more sports modes for physically active people

This option will appeal especially to people who love interval training. You can customize your workout – the watch will help you with it. The Garmin Fenix 7 smartwatch has AMRAP and EMOM training.

More accurate measurement of heart rate and blood oxygenation levels

These kinds of measurements are very important for runners and other sports people. Even for those who don’t lead an active lifestyle, it’s important to quickly check their heart rate.

That’s why the Garmin Fenix 7 is equipped with a function for even more accurate measurement – it is fitted with a fourth-generation sensor. It is thanks to it that the measurement is reliable.

Where is the sensor located – on the bottom of the watch. It is easy to spot because during the measurement a beam of light illuminates the wrist. It looks cosmic – like a lightsaber in the Star Wars movies! It really is a watch from another Galaxy.

Even longer use of the watch without charging

Everyone is sure to be pleased to hear about longer battery life. Models with solar panels, allow the device to work even longer – even by 30%!

How does this look in practice? Let’s see:

  • up to 18 days for Fenix 7,
  • up to 18 days for Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar and Solar ( + solar charging – up to 22 days),
  • up to 11 days for Fenix 7S,
  • up to 11 days for Fenix 7S Sapphire Solar and Solar (+ solar charging – up to 14 days),
  • up to 28 days for Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar and Solar (+ solar charging – up to 37 days).

Morning report – new day, new challenges

To start the day well, it’s a good idea to look at a sports watch and immediately have all the data you need to get ready. Immediately after waking up, you will get a lovely message with the words “Good Morning” and a beautiful background. However, that’s not the best part. You’ll be able to review how you slept at night, and how you rested, and find out your training outlook for the day. Customize the report to display information that really interests you, e.g. weather, heart rate, pulse.

Sleeping mode

When you sleep you regenerate your strength and energy. Fenix 7 Garmin does the same. When you go to sleep, it switches to sleep mode and starts saving energy. This allows it to run without charging for even longer and serves you in your daily chores and workouts.

Race time simulation – see how you will do on the course

Are you preparing for a competition? If so, this option will be very helpful. Based on your training history and your fitness, the sports watch will calculate and show you at what time, and pace you will cover a given distance. This is very helpful for people who care about time and results.

That’s all for today. I hope you’ve learned what new features the Garmin Fenix 7 has, and that this has already given you an idea of whether you’re eager to buy this model.
