You probably can’t imagine going anywhere without your phone. Even during a workout, you definitely want to take it with you. How do you run with your phone so that you can perform a workout comfortably and smoothly? Where to put your phone when running? Find out!
“If I have to carry it in my hand, what accessories do I need?”
Well, that’s right, you need accessories to hold the phone comfortably in your hand. The first interesting way is the ring grip, which is often seen on the back of phones of even non-runners, just to hold the phone comfortably while using it. This can also come in handy when running with a phone.
Another way is a special hand-strap phone holder. You put it on your phone and, thanks to a special holder on the back of the phone, you can hold it.
These are interesting, simple, and cheap suggestions. However, you have to keep in mind that despite this, the phone may slip out of your hand. Let’s face it, these are just alternatives for a while. You certainly don’t want to hold your phone in your hand all the time during your workout. It’s uncomfortable and can disrupt your running technique.
Where to put your phone when running? Probably one of the most popular methods of storing your phone while running is a case that you can attach to your arm. It fastens with a hook and loop fastener, so you can adjust it to fit your arm. When choosing the right armband, it is best to buy one that is designed for the model of phone you are using.
You can buy an armband that completely covers the phone, or one that has transparent plastic on the front and you can even use your smartphone without any problems. These are definitely accessories worth having, even if you find a better solution for yourself to store your phone while running.
The armband for a runner should be waterproof, have the ability to use the screen, and be made of a good material that will not bruise or irritate the skin.
There is also the option of placing the phone on your wrist. If you choose it then you need to purchase a special case. A Wristband bag will allow you to store your phone. There are models that have a special rotating arm. This allows you to freely use the phone even while running if you want to change a song or answer the phone.
If we are here, it is worth mentioning cases that are clipped to the belt. It can be clipped with a snap ring. This is a good alternative, for people who do not want to have a smartphone on their arm or wrist.
To do this you need to choose the right shorts. If you want to store your phone in a pocket, then it must be large enough to fit the phone inside without any problems. On the other hand, if the pocket is too big, the phone will “fly” inside and interfere with your workout.
In the case of shorts for running, men are more fortunate, because their pockets are large and you can fit more than just a phone in them. Worse is the case for women, where practically nothing fits into the pockets.
Fortunately, more and more manufacturers are trying to change this and you can find models with side pockets and with hidden pockets in the liner. Whether you opt for such depends on whether you are comfortable in them. As a last resort, you can always buy men’s running shorts in a small size.
Remember that the pockets in running shorts should have fasteners so that nothing falls out of them. You certainly don’t want to lose your phone during an intense workout.
None of the previous options are for you. Then how about a waist bag? It is best to choose a small model, where you can put your phone, keys, and possibly tissues. This is a really convenient option and many runners use it.
If not a waist bag, then bet on its alternative. The hip belt has a special pocket where you can store your phone throughout your run and not worry about losing it during your workout. You can run with your hands-free and not worry about your running technique.
In this case, too, you need to choose the right size so that your phone will fit. What’s more, choose a good material that will stay on your hips and won’t bruise you during your workout.
If you carry water with you, I can tell you that you probably already have a place to put your phone.
Do you run with a water bottle? You can purchase a zippered case for your water bottle. This way you can hold your drink as well as your phone in one hand and not worry that it will fall out – even if you let the water bottle fall out of your hand, thanks to the zippered case, the phone will not get damaged – your screen is protected.
Do you run with a hydration vest? Then you definitely have room to stow your phone in there as well, not just your water bottle.
You can also find running vests on the market, which are really comfortable and do not restrict movement while running with a phone. Their huge plus, are the pockets into which you can put the most necessary things such as keys and, of course, your phone.
You will find many different models online and in stationery stores. Choose the one that will be comfortable when you put it on. After all, it’s not the storage space for your phone that’s important, but the convenience of running.
There is another option for storing your phone, but this time only for ladies. Certainly, to run comfortably you need to buy a sports bra. If you don’t have one yet, look for one with a special pocket for your phone on the back.
This is an interesting option because you don’t have to carry extra items or accessories to store your phone safely.
There are, of course, downsides to such a solution: the difficulty of removing the phone, and the whole phone can be sweaty. To see if you notice these minuses during your workout, you’ll have to see for yourself how to exercise in such a sporty bra with a pocket on the back.
“But what do you mean without a phone?”
Choose a more convenient option – a sports watch. Modern equipment really has many options and can serve as a mini phone. It will help you measure your heart rate, pace, and a number of steps, it has GPS and many other interesting features that will come in handy while running.
This way you don’t have to worry about where to put your phone when running. You put the watch on your wrist and that’s it!
I hope that, thanks to this article, you already know how to store your phone while running. You really have a lot of options to choose from. If you can’t make up your mind, try a few of them. Most often runners use an armband, but this option is not necessarily convenient for you. Choose such a gadget so that it makes you comfortable running with a phone. This is the most important thing!
